When would you need to file a 940?
If you paid wages of $1,500 or more to employees, and/or had
employees for at least 20 weeks in the year, you may need to file a
940.
Requirements for employers of household employees, agricultural
employees, Indian tribal governments, tax-exempt organizations, and
state or local government employees differ.
Paper filers and eFilers must file form 940 to the IRS by January 31, 2025.
However, if you deposited all your FUTA tax when it was due, you may file
Form 940 by February 12, 2025. FUTA taxes must be paid quarterly by the last
day of the month following the end of a calendar quarter.
